Alondra Castro
Scenic Design Concentration, Class of ’27
Alondra Castro is a second-year MFA Scenic Design student at the University of Tennessee, her journey to Knoxville began during the COVID pandemic when she realized she had a passion for design and decided to take a leap into theatre design. Since then, she started the journey into scenic design, scenic painting, and props construction. During her time as an undergrad, she had multiple design opportunities in various areas but decided that scenic designing was her path. After graduating from Angelo State University, she got the opportunity to be the scenic/props apprentice at Virginia Repertory Theatre where she grew her skills as an artisan. After two years at Virginia Rep, she decided it was time to go back to her focus in scenic design, which is her focus now while continuing to grow her skillset in props and painting. Her scenic design credits include How to Defend Yourself, The Colored Museum, I and You, and Bright Ideas.
