CBT Receives Humanities TN Grant

The Clarence Brown Theatre has received the Humanities Tennessee Grant to continue outreach programs.

The goal will be for the All Access Talkbacks with Kenneth Jones is to help connect the Greater Knoxville community with a noted playwright who will use his work as a journalist, author and theatre professional to place in greater context how playwriting reflects the world today. This is an excellent opportunity to peel back the curtain of the live, professional theatre, while thoughtfully engaging with specific members of our immediate community.

Exposing residents to this educational opportunity to discuss and learn about the craft of playwriting can help broaden their horizons and perhaps inspire some to further explore this medium in which to share their own stories. Through providing multi-encounter approaches to arts and culture, through both the all-access talk back and playwriting discussion at YWCA with Kenneth Jones, a censorship symposium at the Knox County Public Library and offering the public a chance to see the playwright’s words come to life on the stage, we hope to continue bringing our community together to discuss meaningful and resonate topics through art and literature.
